Bhopal:Saturday, August 23 : The Minister for Health, Shri Anoop Mishra has said that ‘Bitiya Bachao Abhiyan’ (Save Girl Child) movement will soon be launched in Madhya Pradesh to stop the evil of female foeticide. Addressing a Conference of Health Ministers of states in New Delhi, Shri Mishra urged financial assistance from the central government for Deendayal Antyoday Yojana and state sickness assistance schemes of the state.
Health Minister Shri Mishra informed that an increased target of 120 CMOC institutions have been set up to lessen mother mortality rate. For the first time, MBBS and M.D. doctors are being appointed in rural areas, he added. Twenty four hour emergency maternity and Neonatal serving 384 BMOC institutions have been started. At fifty district hospitals, sick new born care units are also being set up.
Urging financial assistance from the centre for the unique scheme “Deendayal Antyodaya Yojna”, run by the government of Madhya Pradesh, he said that free medical help upto Rs. twenty thousand per family is given to the people living below the poverty line.
The Health Minister also informed about the provision made by the state government under the State Sickness Assistance Fund to give financial assistance of Rs. 1.5 lakh to the poor who cannot afford expensive medical treatment. He also informed about the steps being taken up in the state to control and prevent swine flu.
