Bhopal:Wednesday, July 9:The Minister for Forests and Tribal Welfare Kunwar Vijay Shah has clarified that while addressing a function to mark dedication of a Memorial Forest here on Tuesday he had stated nothing against Brahmins, as has been reported in a section of the press. He has been quoted out of context and reference, he added.
The Minister said that what he intended to say was that there has been a tradition from time immemorial to perform various rituals including feeding the Brahmans on death anniversaries of our forefathers during Pitrapaksha and tree plantation may be a very appropriate and meaningful addition to them.
The Minister said that he has always held Brahmins in very high esteem and received guidance and Samskaras from them.
The Minister said that Brahmins have all along preserved and enriched the great heritage of our country for the posterity. They are, therefore, always respectable. Given his family traditions and Samskaras he cannot even think of insulting any community or class including Brahmins, he added.
