Atal Behari Vajpayee Public Administration Institute will work as a think-tank in the global as well as local context in the field of good governance. The institute set up under newly constituted Public Service Management Department, will analyse government policies as well as identify and solve problems and prepare action plan for it apart from assisting in its implementation.
The State Government has fixed the institute’s objectives and outlines. As per it, the institute will also compile information about excellent works and methods as well as programmes of e-administration and will also work for their extension. It will also give advice about possibility of improvement in existing administrative arrangements and necessary changes in them. The institute will also identify such areas of public administration where changes and improvements will lead to positive effect on achievements. With a view to making the administration people-centric, It will also work for providing a platform to local, national as well as international institutions and concerning groups. Apart from conducting various courses related to public service management, the institute will also suggest ways for capacity building of voluntary organisations.Governing body
Chief Minister will be the chairman of the Governing Body of the Public Administration Institute and Director General of Atal Behari Vajpayee Public Administration Institute will be its member-secretary. While the members will include Finance Minister, Higher Education Minister, Technical Education Minister, Minister of SC, ST departments, Minister for Public Administration apart from the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretaries of Finance, General Administration, Public Service Management, Higher Education and SC, ST Development departments, Director General of Academy of Administration, Director of IIM-Indore, two vice-chancellors of recognised universities nominated by the State Government, Director of IIFM, Bhopal and four persons nominated by the State Government, who are specialists in education, administration and managements fields.
Executive body
A nine-member executive body will also be formed to run the institution. Its chairman will be institute’s Director General while member secretary will be a member of the institute. Besides, its members will include Principal Secretaries of General Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Higher Education and SC, ST Welfare departments. It will also have two non-government members nominated by the State Government.
