12 Dec : The curtains will go up for the 13th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) at a colourful function at the Nisagandhi open air auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan would inaugurate the seven-day event. Education and Culture Minister M A Baby would preside over the function and Revenue Minister K P Rajendran would release the festival book, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, sources said.Argentinian director Fernando Birri and veteran actress K R Vijaya would be the Chief guests at the function.A total of 182 films from 53 countries would be shown at the festival, while 14 films were included in the competition section.
Around 7,000 delegates had registered to attend the festival, the sources said.Palestinian film ‘Laila’s Birthday’ by Rashid Masharawi would be screened as the opening film.
