31 May:The allocation of portfolios for all 29 Ministers of the newly sworn in BJP government will be made on 6th June after the Yeddyurappa led Ministry passes the floor test.
The portfolios would be allocated only after 6th June, Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and state unit BJP President D V Sadananda Gowda told reporters in Bangalore on Saturday.
Yeddyurappa will seek the trust vote on 6th June.Following the delay, Yeddyurappa will be handling all the departments in the state.BJP party sources said there is a demand for major portfolios like Home, Public Works, Energy, Urban Development, Irrigation and Mines.
According to indications, Yeddyurappa is keen on retaining the departments of Finance and Excise, the portfolios he held as deputy Chief Minister in the previous JDS-BJP coalition government.
On senior leader Jagadish Shettar rejecting the Speaker’s post, Sadananda Gowda said it was the party high command’s decision to appoint him as assembly Speaker.
Even as Shettar rejected the offer, Gowda hoped that the former Minister would accept it.Gowda also said the dissidence that has surfaced in the party following denial of Ministerial berths to some MLAs would be checked "in a couple of days".Courtsey : DD NEWS
