June 18:The Chief Minister of Karnataka Mr. B S Yeddyurappa held a meeting on the State Budget with Dr. Kirit Parikh, Member of Planning Commission in Bangalore on Wednesday.
Union Finance Minister Dr. Chidambaram had presented the State budget in Parliament on March 10, 2008, when the state was under the President’s rule. The new Government in Karnataka is now revising this Budget to reflect the priorities of the new Government including the changes in Sectoral outlays.
It is consulting the Planning Commission to finalise the Central resources under various Central programmes and plans. Energy requirements of the state, Central funds for augmentation of water resources and farmer’s welfare schemes were some of the issues discussed in the meeting with Mr. Parikh by the Chief Minister today.
In this regard Mr. Yeddyurappa is going to meet the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission. Mr. Yeddyurappa has said that the revised budget will be presented in the State Assembly on July 10. He held pre-budget discussions today to firm up the details of the revised budget to be presented by him in the State Assembly.
