10 May : NTPC Limited and National Power Training Institute (NPTI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for running Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Barkagaon, Hazaribag, Jharkhand in New Delhi today. The ITI is expected to meet the requirement of skilled workforce in the Coal Mining and Power Sector by developing and enhancing the technical skills of the local youth near its upcoming Coal Mining project at NTPC-Pakri Barwadih.
NTPC has till date adopted 18 ITIs out of which 15 have been adopted under PPP scheme and three under Bilateral agreement with various State Governments. NTPC is also setting up eight new ITIs near its power projects. The adoption and setting up new ITIs is spread in 18 states of the country.
ITI at Barkagaon shall also provide training opportunity to the existing employees from Power Sector and other Industries to upgrade their skills. As per the terms of MoU the Institute shall be set up by NTPC and run by NPTI. NTPC shall support NPTI in meeting the gap between the revenue earning and the operational expenditure for first two years of functioning.
this is good for barkagaon .but the matter should be solved soon by ntpc .ntpc must provide the land rate which the villagers are demanding.
