Rajouri ; Demanding opening of Urdu University in J&K, Tehreek Baqa-e-Urdu (TBU) has appreciated Central University Kashmir authorities for showing concern towards Urdu and handing over important assignment to renowned Urdu writer and former Head of Urdu Department of Kashmir University, Prof Quddus Javed in Central University.
In a press statement issued here, Spokesman and General Secretary of TBU Zakir Malik Bhallesi has said that since Urdu is official language of J&K, there is need of an Urdu University to be opened in the state. He said that although the state has produced national and international repute Urdu writers but the state has not done any effort for promotion of this language in the state. He said that neither Urdu Academy was opened on ground nor there is any break through of State Council for Promotion of Urdu Language.
Demanding Urdu University, TBU has said that Dr Sir Mohammad Iqbal had relate himself with Kashmir Pandit race of Kashmir but state government has not opened any big institution on his name. Zakir Malik said that if Allama Iqbal Urdu University is opened in the state, this will be a tribute to the tallest poet of Asia.
Appreciating Vice Chancellor of Central University Kashmir, TBU has welcomed the decision of CUK for handing over special assignments of Urdu to Prof Quddus Javed in the University. TBU said that the decision will not only benefit CUK but to the whole state especially Urdu. TBU has said that Prof. Quddus Javed has already proved his mettle in University of Kashmir and his appointment in Central University of Kashmir will surely benefit Urdu in the state.
