Jammu, June 18: The Business School, University of Jammu today felicitated Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, Vice-Chancellor on being nominated as the member of the elite and prestigious ‘National Knowledge Commission’, Govt. of India
Prof. Amitabh Mattoo has recently being awarded Padma Shree by the President of India. He is also the member of various national and international bodies including the Indo-Afghan Foundation and has recently been nominated as a life member of the executive of PUGWASH. The function was attended by Prof. BPS Sehgal, Dean Academic Affairs, senior University officials and the students of The Business School.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Mattoo said that he owes this prestigious assignment to the contribution and synergistic effort of all the stakeholders of the University of Jammu especially the students. He said that the future of India lies in its emergence as a Knowledge Economy.
Prof. Mattoo said that Universities will have to play a vital role in the creation of a knowledge base in all sectors of the economy so that a sound planning and execution of the same was possible for the benefit of the society and to place India in the league of the developed nations of the world.
Vice Chancellor also visited the under construction newly expanded building of The Business School and reviewed the progress of the construction work. He appreciated and applauded the transformation that has taken place in The Business School in the recent past. He further complimented Prof. Neelu Rohmetra for her initiative and painstaking efforts in building up the newly created International Centre for Cross Culture, Research and Human Resource Management.
Prof. Keshav Sharma, Director, The Business School in his welcome address said that it is indeed a matter of prestige for the University of Jammu that Prof. Amitabh Mattoo has been nominated at the prestigious national level body. He further said that Prof. Amitabh Mattoo is a visionary leader and it is only under his patronage that The Business School has attained new heights and is now ranked among the top University Business Schools in the country.
Prof. Ashok Aima, the senior most Faculty Member of The Business School proposed a Vote of thanks at the end of the Function.
