By Asif Iqbal Naik, Kishtwar May 22:- The future of 113 teachers selected by Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Recruitment Board (JKSSRB) for Kishtwar District is in jeopardize as they are yet to join their services even after more than six months has gone by; as the state government failed to issue the order directing the selected aspirants to report to education department for their further duties.
Like in other parts of the state, Education department vide advertisement No: 07 of 2012 dated 12-11-2010 vide item No: 705 invited applications for 116 posts of teachers for Kishtwar District under various categories through JKSSRB. In response to the advertisement No:7 of 2012, thousands of unemployed youths from different parts of District applied for the job and according the SSRB constituted the board who on the bases of interview and education qualification declared 113 applicants as qualified for the post of teacher and the list of the same was published in leading dallies of the state in 5-11-2012 edition of newspapers. As per the selection list published in various dallies of the state, 66 candidates were declared as qualified under Open category, 23 under RBA, 10 under SC, 12 under ST and 2 under OSC category, while 3 seats under ALC category were declared as vacant since Kishtwar District did not fall under the Actual Line Of Control category.
Even though the selected candidates runs from pillar to post, but education department even after the lapse of more than 6 months, fails to direct Chief Education Officer Kishtwar to seek joining reported from the selected candidates so that the services of the same could be utilized as Kishtwar District that is already reeling under the shortage of teaching staff. One of the selected candidate on the condition of anonymity informed that they bring the matter into the notice of education department but nothing has been done so far and seek the intervention of MLA Kishtwar Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori.
Another female aspirant said that she along with her friend visited the office of Chief Education Officer Kishtwar several times, but said that the officials at the helm of the affair turn deaf hear towards the issue. Similar views were expressed by several other aspirants who are eagerly waiting for joining the teacher’s job. They said that they were hopeful that government will look into the matter at an earliest and urged upon the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who also holds the education portfolio to direct Commissioner Secretary Education to issue the order of allowing them to join their jobs.
According to one of the employee posted in Education department, other than Kishtwar District, there are several other district where the selected aspirants faces the same problem as was faced by the selected candidates of Kishtwar District.
