Amit Sharma ,Jammu/ Rajouri, : District Administration Rajouri In an unprecedented move, camped at far flung village of Taryath, in tehsil Kalakot, for the full day. The durbar, organized as the second one of its kind by the Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Saugat Biswas, was held in the Higher Secondary School, Taryath, for the whole day. All departments opened their offices in different rooms of the school, which were attended by district heads and subordinate officers. People from twenty two far-flung villages attended the durbar and brought their issues for disposal.
Separate training meets were held with the sarpanches and panches for training them on devolution of powers to the panchayati raj institutions. The District Development Commissioner and the district officers of all the fourteen departments responded to the queries of the sarpanches and panches while imparting the training in detail.
In addition, all the district officers of various departments attended offices and addressed issues of the public on an individual basis. The administration also heard the sarpanches and panches, who highlighted larger common issues, of their respective panchayats. In all there was participation of around 1500 people. During the session the district officers disseminated awareness about the plans and schemes in force. Face to face discussion of applicants with concerned officers went a long way in the solving public issues. Hundreds of applications were received from the public of which maximum were disposed off on spot.
Biswas informed that prior to this, he had held public durbars at Tahanmandi, Darhal, Nowshera, and Kotranka, all well attended, but with limited amount of success, in terms of actually solving individual issues. He said that the new experiment of opening district offices in a remote village for a full day was taken up first at Budhal last month, and was found very successful. This one at Taryath was the second in the series, and there are more to come he said. This has been done keeping in mind the individual issues of people, which are left unresolved for long durations due to distance from the district headquarter. The Deputy Commissioner informed that being a remote and far flung area of the district, gaps were noticed particularly in the field of Education, Health, PHE, Power and infrastructural facilities. Efforts were made to resolve most of the problems on spot. Issues regarding anganwadi centres, MNREGA wage payments, title verifications, slow or stalled construction of buildings, shortage of medicines, habitation certificates, electricity billing disputes, requirement of poles and LT, requirement of seeds and fertilizers, land compensation and old age pension, came up during the durbar. Such problems which were beyond the purview of the District Administration will be taken up at respective quarters, assured the Deputy Commissioner. Apart from regular work, even on spot transfer orders were issued by ZEO, lower Hathal. Maximum issues of the revenue department were disposed of during the durbar.
