Jammu, December 10: Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Society (RJMLS) has once again raised the issue setting up an Urdu academy in the Jammu and Kashmir State.The demand of setting an Urdu Academy was raised in a Genral Body meeting of the Society here today.
Near about hundred members of the society attended its annual general body meeting chaired by its president Professor Shohab Inayat Malik.The members of the Society were of the View that despite the false promises made by the successive government in the state regarding the formation of Urdu Academy in the state but till nothing has been done in this regard.
They demanded that the Urdu being the Official Language be used for all official purposes. "Its past glory be restored immediately as it is the language which teaches brotherhood , communal harmony and love, " members said adding that same position of the Language be restored as it was during Dogra period.
The members further maintained that during the Farooq regime Urdu committee had submitted a detailed report to the then government but till date no step was taken to implement the recommendations of the said committee. The members demanded immediate implementation of Urdu Committee report and immediate setting up of Urdu Academy in Jammu and Kashmir State.
The members further demanded creation of Urdu teachers vacancies in various Colleges and Schools of the State where not a Single teacher have been posted to teach Urdu to the Students.
Prominent among who attended General Body meeting include Bashir Bhaderwahi, Aseer Kistwari , Prof. KH Sadiqi, Prof. NA Malik, Mr. MK Bajngroo, Mr Anand Lehar, Mr Amin Banjara, Dr Dawood Iqbal Baba, Arif Haleem, Imran Farooq, Sadaf Shah, Nowsheen Khan Tariq Tamkeen.
