JAMMU, APRIL 02 (INFO) – Government has sanctioned 54 new road projects involving Rs. 60 crore under PMGSY Phase-VI for Pulwama and Shopian during current fiscal year. These projects would provide road connectivity to 84 villages and habitations of these twin districts.
This was stated by Minister of State for R&B Mr. Mohammad Khalil Bandh while reviewing various under execution road projects in these districts here today.The meeting was informed that, at present, 24 road projects involving Rs. 23 crore are apace which would benefit 30,000 souls of 26 habitations of the area.Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bandh said that government was committed to provide better road connectivity to all the un-connected inhabitants across the state. He said various exemplary measures have been initiated to revamp the vital road sector. He said under Bharat Nirman Programme all the un-connected inhabitants would be connected with urban areas by 2009. “Better road connectivity is the key tool for transformation of socio-economic condition of the people”, he added.
Mr. Bandh enjoined upon the engineers to redouble their efforts and work with dedication in implementing all developmental schemes which would not only ease the problems of the people but enable the government to incur the allocated funds well in time.
The Minister also called upon the people to ensure their complete cooperation and involvement in development programmes being executed in their respective areas to make Jammu and Kashmir a Khushal state. He exhorted upon the officers to perform their duties with all efficiency because government would not compromise in delay of completion of development projects. He said the honest and dedicated engineers would be awarded while as erring ones would be brought into book.
Senior engineers and officers also attended the meeting.
