Jammu,19 Mar, BJP activists from Gandhi Nagar Mandal,Jammu take out a protest march from Pucca Talab, Bahu Fort, and after passing through various localities, reached outside Bagh-e-Bahu entrance where massive demonstration against price-rise and Roshni Act was held.The protest was led by Mandal President Ch. Vikram Randhawa.
BJP State Vice-President & JMC Councillor Smt. Suresh Jamwal, while addressing the demonstrators, said that the five year rule of the Congress-PDP coalition in the state has brought miseries to the common people. The coalition in the state has failed to ensure regular supply of ration and kerosene oil at the depots. She said the people are being misled on the slogans of—"good governance", "work culture", "accountability" and "corruption free administration". It is just an eye wash and people are now realizing the difference between the working and sayings of this government. Today even the staunch supporters of Congress and PDP are opposing its policies. She expressed confidence that the people will teach Congress and PDP a lesson in the coming elections.
Ch. Vikram Randhawa, on this occasion, said that the steep rise in the prices of essential items have made it very difficult for a poor person to manage even two time meals for the family. Today a poor person can not think of constructing his own house or purchase even a cycle because he has to spend more to run family than his earning. He also took the present Congress-led coalition to task for enacting Kaala Kanoon-Roshni Act- under which the residents of the Bahu Fort area are required to pay rupee 80,000 per marla for regularization of their lands. He said the area houses maximum population of labour class people who can not afford to pay such huge fees to get the rights over the land which their families are in possession for last 200 years. He also demanded providing additional funds for the development of the neglected areas of Bahu Fort area.
Ch. Vikram Randhawa demanded immediate withdrawal of Roshni Act and regularization of the lands to the people without charging any fee.
Jaideep Sharma, Arun Khosla, Rajiv Charak, Shubh Chander Verma, Hardesh Kumar, Capt. Moti Lal, and Sher Singh were the prominent BJP leaders who also addressed the protestors.
