Bhaderwah, April-07: Professor Amitabh Mattoo, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, today inaugurated the VSAT facility of Bhaderwah campus, situated some 200 kms from Jammu. With this, the Bhaderwah campus which is all set to become one of the most beautiful campuses in entire Jammu region with its idyllic settings, has been connected to the outer world with its internet and related facilities.Prof Amitabh Mattoo is presently on a three-day visit to Bhaderwah to take stock of ongoing construction work of the state-of-the-art university campus coming up here. The work in full pace and is expected to be completed in next couple of months.
Speaking at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor Professor Mattoo said the Bhaderwah campus is all set to become the premier institute of learning in near future. The chief minister Mr.Ghulam Nabi Azad, he said, is personally monitoring the progress of the Bhaderwah campus.
When full established in its new complex at Sungli, the campus will benefit hundreds of students from rural and far flung areas who otherwise find it very difficult to reach universities located in urban settings.
“Bhaderwah, as such, has a very high literacy rate and when Bhaderwah campus would start functioning in its new building, it would not only cater to the students of Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban and Bhaderwah, but would also attract students from neighboring Himachal Pradesh and Punjab and even Bani Basohli areas.
Announcing that the Bhaderwah campus will reserve 50 per cent seats in Bhaderwah campus for the local students, Professor Mattoo said the local students who would be passing put from the local colleges will find the facilities and academic courses highly job oriented which have been introduced by JU here in this campus.
Earlier, Professor Mattoo and the high level team of Jammu University including academics and officers, visited the Bhaderwah campus building which is coming up at Sungli. Most of the work has been completed. He was also accompanied by Mr Khurshid Ahmed Butt Deputy Commissioner Doda, and Secretary, Revenue Mr Asgar Samoon. The campus is located in a vast expanse of land which is dotted with Tulips at its entrance. The varied hues of Tulips add to the beauty of the campus.
