MOHD MAJID MALIK , BHADERWAH,OCT 16— The daily wage workers of public health engineering (PHE) department held a strong protest in Bhaderwah on Friday under the chairmanship of its district President Doda Mohd Sajad Ganai demanding regularization of their services.
Eyewitnesses said that scores of workers assembled in the premises of PHE filter plant Gagal , Bhaderwah and started protesting.They gave a 3 months ultimatum to the higher authorities to frame a proper policy for their regularization and threatened to stop the water supply to all the areas of erstwhile Doda district, if the demand was not met.The protesters were also demanding timely and regular payment of their wages and enhancement in rate of their daily wage.
They alleged that despite assurance by the concerned minister and senior officers, their demands have not been addressed. They said that many among them have been working in the department for the past 15-20 years but still awaiting regularisation.“The delaying attitude of the state government has made our life horrible,” said Mohd Sajad Ganai . The protesters threatened that they would be forced to go for harsh measures if the govt remained unmoved.“We will start a Padh Yatra from erstwhile Doda district to Jammu along with family members if within 3 months minister not full filled his promise ,” said Sajad .
