Jammu: Feb: Continuing with the indefinites Protest against the authoritative attitude, the students and scholars of the University Of Jammu (JU) held protest demonstration across the campus under the banner of National Secular Forum (NSF).
Large number of NSF activists shouting slogans surrounded the Dean Student Welfare and turned violent when DSW and was not present in his room.
They staged a Gheraos for half- hours there and raised anti-VC slogans.
The protesting scholars and students led by Vikas Sharma, NSF State President, The students and the scholars were raising slogans against the University Authorities for not taking note of their demands and maintaining stoic silence over the entire matter.
Sharma flayed Dean Student Welfare Prof.N.K.Thripathi for maintaining stoic silence over the burning demands of the students which they have been highlighting since a Week and to which the University authorities have failed to respond. The Dean failed to convince the students and expressed inability to resolve their demands on the plea that matter was lying with the Vice Chancellor and only he has the authority to answer the same.
It is mention that NSF had called for indefinite protest in the campus against the failure of JU authorities to concede their demands that included punishment to the culprits of infamous episodes of marks tampering and Bed examination mass copying, date sheet of the exams for DDE was published in the print media just before 2/3 days from the start of the exams, misused fund in DDE, large scale mismanagement in the DDE, not coming out with results on time and appoint contractual employees in examination as supridentant
He further said that for function VIRASAT coming up in the university, 25 lakh rupees is being spent. He said that spending this large amount of money on function is worthless and the same money should be utilized for providing facilities to the student which have not been provided to the students. He said still there are various facilities which are to be provided to the students in the university and ignoring this all the university is spending 25 Lakh on functions.
Vikas Sharma added that sub centre of central library which is located in Vinayak Bazaar is closed for the last 6 years. He said that university should initiative of opening of this sub centre of library as the same has benefitted many who at this time are holding high positions in the society. He also said that coming up of examination hall in the third floor of central library is not worth as there will be restrictions of the students which in turn will effect there studies.
They warned that they would continue their protests till the Vice Chancellor does not initiate action against the mismanagement and financial bungling in the university.
Among those who were present in the Protest included, Surjit Choudhary, Ravi Choudhary, Rohit Sharma, Sukdev Singh, Balveer Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Narinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Manjit Singh, Jakhir, Pardeep Sharma and others.
