Jammu: 16 Feb: The National Secular Forum today held an impressive function at University of Jammu to celebrate its maiden annual convention on the eve of 3rd anniversary.
Kailash Pati Sharma Director (North) of Dell Computers, Was the chief guest of the function whereas, Vikas Sharma, president NSF, Presided over. Large number of student’s delegates attended the Convention.
K P Sharma appreciated the NSF for taking various measures over the past years to protect the right of students hence, serving the society. He also gave an exposure of Multi National Companies and their style of working to the student delegates. He told them about various opportunities available in the corporate sector and also offered counseling on several issues. The delegates also raised queries and asked about the pre-requisites for making mark at higher levels.
A general discussion was also held on the various problems and demands of the student’s community. The delegates expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the education system, corruption in the country, in general, and J&K, in particular.
Vikas Sharma presented annual report of the NSF’s activities and programmed held during the past year. He stated that forum was gaining popularity among the students and youth owing to its popular ideology and transparent working. He also said to launch membership drive on a big scale in the days to come.
He highlighted three aspects-education, national security and corruption. He called for measures to change the system of education that can bring out men of character in society because it is apparent that most of the corrupts in the nation are so-called well-educated people. He described India as a duty-based society than right-based.
He also called upon the youth and the NSF to declare a war on corruption. He said that corruption is increasing day by day in the Jammu University. He said that funds in every administrator are not utilized properly and there is no accountability in utilizing the funds.
Rakesh Chib State Sr.Vice-President NSF also addressing the delegates said the NSF is of the clear opinion that the ongoing sequence of events at the national stage is an ample proof to the fact that the 2G scam does not merely involve some bureaucrats or ministers rather the Prime Minister and his office are equally guilty. This is evident from the sequence of events starting from Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy’s letter to Prime Minister’s Office, holding the file by PMO for two years deliberately, without replying and the PMO falling in line after serious comments from the Supreme Court questioning its silence on the letter consequential to the filing of the affidavit. These events implicate the Prime Minister directly. He said the Central Government should shed its adamancy of shamelessness and accept the demand of the opposition for a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the scam and contribute in bringing out the truth.
Earlier, the welcome address was presented by Sukdev Singh State secretary and programmed was compared by Ravi Choudhary and Rohit Sharma .The vote of thanks was delivered by Surjit Choudhary District Chairman.
