Jammu: March 09: National Secular Forum under its State President Vikas Sharma held a protest demonstration in front of Central Library in the campus of the Jammu University on Wednesday in which large number of students and scholars participated. The agitating students locked the main door and surrounded incharge librarian Mohammed Shoaib in Central Library for the non availability of facilities for about one hour.
The protest lasted for over one hour during which, NSF President Vikas Sharma has criticized the University Authorities for the rise of corruption in the administration and has taken a strong note of it. He said that post of the Semi Prof.Assistant in the central library has been filled up by the candidate whose result has not been yet declared officially.
He said that the candidate has done B.Lib and its result has not been declared yet and the same candidate has been provided job in the central library. He said this will not be tolerated and to expose the corrupt officials is the need of hour. He further said that this is high of the administration and corruption is on rise in the administration.
Addressing on this occasion District Chairman Surjit Choudhary has taken a strong note of the non availability of facilities being provided by the Jammu University in the Library where hundreds of students are spending their time as KAS Exams are going on and also the students are preparing for others competitive exams.
He said students and scholars have highlighted their problems before the authorities several times but most of their issues remained unaddressed.
He said that lot of funds is provided for the development works but no such development is seen on grounds. He said that officials of the university are enjoying every facility and students are deprived of it.
He also said that coming up of examination hall in the third floor of central library is not worth as there will be restrictions of the students which in turn will effect there studies.
The scholars and Students also objected to the behavior of the in charge librarian Mohammed Shoaib, which according to them was not cordial with the students and scholars, Sharma claimed.
Addressing on this occasion University Unit Chairman Ravi Choudhary also demanded to provide new edition books to the scholars so that they are facilitated in their research related works. He further demanded to connect departmental libraries with central Library through internet so as to provide better facilities to the students.
Addressing on this occasion State Secretary Sukdev Singh said that Prof Varun Sahni for shielding fraudulent and corrupt officials of the university. He said so far the university has been mute spectator and nothing has been done for the welfare of the students.
He warned that NSF would continue their protests till the Chancellor to hold an inquiry into the matter.
