JAMMU, MARCH 18 (INFO)- To augment power supply in tehsil Billawar, the Minister of State for Power Mr. Babu Singh inaugurated a 33/11 KV 3.15 MVA sub
station at Baggan, yesterday. The project was completed at a cost of about Rs.2.10 crore under APDRP scheme.
Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Janak Raj Gupta, MLA Billawar Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, Chief Engineer M&RE Mr. D. S. Pawar, Additional Superintendent of Police Kathua Mr. Binam Tosh, SDM Billawar Mr. R. K. Razdan, SC and XEN Kathuaand senior engineers and officers of the various department were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Babu Singh said that the government led by Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad was committed to provide basic amenities to the people particularly in hilly and remote areas. He said that the power sector was being given priority and efforts were afoot to provide electricity to every nook and corner of the state and make it energy rich under various schemes launched including Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidhutikaran Yojana (RGGVY), APDRP,
etc. He said that this sub station will benefit more than 20,000 inhabitants of villages like Baggan, Hutter, Dhar-Dugnoo, Dheota, Melad and Marhoon Malhar. He said with the commission of this project there will be improvement of voltage regulation, reduction in line losses, reduction in forced and un-scheduled power cuts. There will also be additional supply of power, capacity to cater future load growth of the area and above all the people will have stable power in
the area due to reduction of line length of 11 KV feeder.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Janak Raj Gupta highlighted the development scenario of J&K during last 2 years of Azad led Government which has given greater thrust to development of infrastructure, transparency in administration, fight against corruption, implementation of Wazir Commission report and increase of wages of Nambardars and Chowkidars. He said that under Roshni scheme more than 21 lakh kanals of state land worth Rs.20, 000 crore was
being distributed free among the agriculturists. The government was trying at every level to improve the economic condition of farmers who will be further benefited with the decision of central government regarding waiving off of the loans of the farmers, he added.
Mr. Gupta thanked the UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh for extending liberal financial assistance to J&K for speedier infrastructural development and implementation of welfare schemes. MLA Billawar Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma said this sub station at Baggan will improve the power position in this hilly and remote area. Later, the Minister also addressed a public meeting at Mandli.
