`Jammu, March 15 (INFO)- With a view to propagate modern Bee-keeping in the fertile areas where flora is found in abundance the J&K Khadi & Village Industries
Board commenced a Bee-keeping training centre for three months at Maralia, R. S. Pura, Jammu today. As many as 40 persons, maximum females have been registered for imparting the training and each trainee shall be given Rs. 300/- per month as stipend. The training centre was inaugurated by Mr. Ghulam Nabi Naik, Member National Khadi and Village Industries Board and the Secretary, KVIB, Mr. R. C. Sharma, along with other senior officers of the Board were also present on the occasion.
Secretary, KVIB, while speaking on the occasion said that the Board is organizing such training camps every year, where interested persons are acquainted with its different aspects. The objective behind such trainings is to pursue them to under take beekeeping as means of their livelihood thereby generating employment avenues. He informed that the KVIB is setting up two Common Facility Centres (CFC) one each at Jammu and Srinagar. One at Miran Sahib is under way and will be ready to serve the peoples of this trade with in a month’s time. He further informed that honey produce of the Beekeepers shall be packed with Agmark, for sound marketing of the honey after checking the quality of the honey in this CFC. Others who spoke on the occasion include, Mr. G. N. Naik, Ex- Director Agriculture, Mr. D. P. Khajuria, Mr. Manzoor M. D of NGO (Beekeeping), Dy. CEO, KVIB, Jammu Division and Dy. CEO, Kashmir Division and Development officer, Beekeeping etc. a large gathering was also informed about REGP being Flagship programme run by the Department.
