Jammu, May 8: The first General Body meeting of Jammu University Teachers’ Association (JUTA) was held in Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium today. More than 250 teachers attended the meeting and deliberated upon the various issues concerning the teachers.The meeting was chaired by JUTA president Prof. Narinder Thipathi. The president chalked out the agenda of present JUTA team like attainment of central university status, allotment and repair of the residential quarters in campus, intercom facility and inter-university service transfers.
Many of the teachers expressed their opinions in the deliberations and came out with their suggestions. The meeting was held in a very congenial atmosphere and members were very appreciative of the issues raised.
Dr. Neeru Sharma, the Vice President of JUTA welcomed the members for attending the general body and thanked one and all for showing there faith and confidence in electing the present JUTA team. The newly appointed teachers of various faculties were introduced by presenting them the roses by the senior faculty members.
The Secretary, Dr. Rajeev Rattan highlighted the various issues which were deliberated and resolved in the two already held executive meetings like the struggle to achieve status of central university to Jammu University, involvement of all the teachers in the various decision-making bodies etc.
During the deliberations the budget put forth by Varinder Koundal, treasurer was approved for the present term. At the end the vote of thanks was delivered by Lalitsen Sharma, the joint-secretary, to one and all.
