Jammu, January 3 : University of Jammu and Kashmir University is jointly organizing a Two Day National Seminar on "Urdu in J&K Past Present and Future". The Seminar is of great importance as Urdu is the official language of Jammu and Kashmir State and is being neglected by the Successive state governments said Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik seminar director adding that Urdu in Jammu and Kashmir had a glorious past.He said that Dogra rulers had promoted the language from the core of their heart. After partition it was victimize by some communal forces for their petty interest despite the fact the language had played a vital role in the freedom struggle of India.
Prof. Reyaz Punjabi Vice Chancellor Kashmir University said "It is the prime duty of Universities to promote the language which teaches us love brotherhood and mutual understanding and the proposed seminar is first step in this direction."
Amin Banjara a prominent Urdu writer also described the upcoming seminar a land mark in the history of Jammu University by organizing the seminar jointly by University of Jammu and Kashmir University the language would get further boosted. "Both Prof. Varun Sahni and Prof. Reyaz Punjabi needs appreciation for this joint venture," he added
Another prominent writer Balraj Bakshi is of the opinion that for the first time Urdu writers of the three region of the state would sit together and chalk out future planning for the promotion of Urdu language.
Prof. Shohab Malik further informed that near about 100 Urdu writers from the three regions of the state are participating in the seminar besides some reputed Urdu scholars of the country are participating as observers.
The Vice Chancellor Jammu University Prof. Varun Sahini and Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Prof. Reyaz Punjabi will jointly inaugurate the upcoming seminar on 12th of Jan 2009.
