Tanveer-ul-Ahad ,Srinagar: A CRPF personnel was killed and three others including a civilian were injured in separate attacks in Kashmir Valley on Wednesday.
CRPF’s Srinagar based spokesman Sudhir Kumar while talking to TIP said a CRPF jawan got killed when militants at around 2:30 am last night opened fire upon 73 Battalion CRPF company at Bemina. The killed jawan has been identified as Parveen Singh Rajput.
He said that soon after the attack, the forces cordoned off the whole area and started a search operation.However, police sources revealed that the CRPF personnel had committed a suicide by shooting himself inside the camp.
Meanwhile, police has registered a case in this regard and started investigations to ascertain the cause leading to the death of personnel.
In another similar attack suspected militants hurled a grenade at CRPF patrol at Arwani Chowk in South Kashmir’s Bijbehara town, the spokesman said.
Two CRPF men and a civilian, Umar Habib sustained splintered injuries in the attack. The injured CRPF men identified as B S N Reddy and Ram Dias Gujar of 90 bn, he said.
All the injured were shifted to the hospital for treatment.
Police has registered a case in this regard and the investigation has been taken up, the spokesman added.
Meanwhile, police has claimed to have detected an improvised explosive device (IED) at Naibasti area of Tral town. The device has been immediately diffused by police and bomb disposal squad (BDS), averting a major tragedy Tuesday late evening.
A police official told GNS that late last evening, police on a tip off detected IED placed beneath the bridge near village Mandura, Tral in South Kashmir’s Awantipora. Bomb disposal squad of police rushed to the spot and destroyed the device without causing any damage.
