Jammu : Harsh Dev Singh NPP chairman and its has MLA demanded early installation of statue of Late Maharaja Gulab Singh at Kunjwani in view of long pending demand of the people of Jammu and repeated assurances given on the subject by the govt. He said a suitable piece of land was also identified for the purpose at Kunjwani bye pass a few years back and a signboard was also put there indicating the site for installation of the statue. He said that the erection of statute could not materialize as the said piece of land was acquired for construction work of four laning of the said road. He said that an alternate rotary was required to be identified so that the demand of the people for installation of statue of the founder of state could be fulfilled.
Mr. Harsh Dev Singh further said that the issue had been taken up several times by the Amar Kshatriya Rajput Sabha also with the concerned authorities at govt. level including Divisional Commissioner, NHAI besides others but the much needed action was still awaited. He shared the concern of Rajput Sabha that the govt. was contemplating the installation of some other statute of a political person at the said place. Warning the govt. to desist from such a mis-adventure, Mr. Singh said that no other political personality could match the charismatic statesmanship and herculean contributions of late Maharaja Gulab Singh for the state and the nation. He said that the posterity needed to know our history, culture and the gigantic accomplishments of the stalwarts and the founders of the state and urged for immediate action in the matter for installation of statue of Maharaja Gulab Singh at Rotary Kunjwani Junction.
