JAMMU, APRIL 02 (INFO) – Government is committed to make available all kinds of food grains at every sales outlet across the state. For the purpose, transport department would provide SRTC trucks to the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department (CAPD) for carrying food grains to different destinations in all the three regions of Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh.
This was stated by Minister for Transport Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen at a high level officers meeting here on Wednesday convened to take stock of various matters pertaining to the transport sector.
Secretary Transport Mr. Daleep Singh, Secretary CAPD Mr. Khalid Habib, MD SRTC Mr. M. A. Lone and senior functionaries of the CAPD, Transport and SRTC attended the meeting.
Reviewing the transport arrangement for 15 days Jammu festival commenced from April Ist, Hakeeem Yaseen directed the concerned authorities to make elaborate traffic arrangements for the people of rural areas to facilitate their participation in the festival. He instructed the Traffic Police authorities to ensure smooth regulation of traffic within Jammu city during festival days.
Transport Minister also asked the Regional Transport Authorities and other concerned officers to provide timely and comfortable transport facilities to the people especially school going children in capital cities of Jammu and Srinagar and other major towns of the state. He also directed for regulating the system smoothly in Kashmir valley especially in Srinagar city in view of the increasing rush of tourists.
The Minister said that government is committed to provide timely and comfortable transport facilities to the people of the state and for the purpose measures of urgent nature have been already taken at various levels. He said numerous steps have been taken for strengthening infrastructure and functioning of the transport department of the state adding that during past less then two years transport infrastructure has been improved manifold resulting in increase in revenue to the state exchequer.
