By Firdoose ul Islam : It was 11:30a.m. for history period for Students of B.A.2nd year in government degree college kupwara. But due to unavailability of class room some of them were playing, whereas some of them prefer to leave for home.
Students are reluctant towards class work because of such shabby infrastructure. Shahid peer student of B.A. 2nd year is still in hope that he will take class one day. This happens with most of students like shahid peer from half a year. But it never came true.“We did not have enough class rooms here in which students could have accommodated. Number of student’s increase every year, but space is still 12 rooms in government degree college kupwara,” Said, Shahid peer.
Another student of B.A.1ST YEAR Rafiq Ahmad peer comes from remote area of chowkibal kupwara. He spends more than 50 rupees each day to reach college for higher education but his expectations are marred when he misses most of classes. Rafiq with distress mood said, “We are more than 100 students in one section in one class room at one time, how can I understand in such rush. We cannot interact with teacher. That is how purpose of class works gone astray.”
Remote Districts Degree College not have library yet after 22 years of its establishment. Books are getting dust in a 15 feet room. Students are not getting benefits of these books. Students of B.A. Faisal peer said, “Here is not any reading room or a library hall where students could read in vacant time. We did not gain knowledge from books and news papers which are supposed for us because of lack of library hall.”
“Due to lack of these facilities students of Degree college kupwara cannot compete in higher exams and with other students of valley.” Said, Faisal peer.
Newly introduced courses B.C.A and B.com were meant to facilitate students but it turns miseries for students than advantage. Altaf Ahmad student of B.C.A 1st year said, “I am regretting to be in kupwara Degree College, because for B.C.A. course we did not have enough computers, generator and even teachers. We are just wandering here and there. What will we do at examination time?”
Shabir Ahmad shah of B.sc non medical reveals, “Physics department neither have permanent teacher nor laboratory,” he further adds “we all know physics is more practical, and one can imagine what level of Degree college kupwara is.”
When approaching principal of GDC kupwara he was not present. Professor of Botany and in charge Principal Dr Fayaz Ahmad lone comments on the matter, “It is true that college need class rooms to accommodate students. But the constructions for new buildings are in process.”
He further comments on lack of library room, “library room had been put in new building as the new building will complete we will have a big hall for library.”
Dr Fayaz further commented, “As B.C.A. and B.com are new course obviously it will need time to full fill needs.”
While questioning on other problems Dr Fayaz commented, “I admit this that Degree College kupwara needs a lot of work for best results and we are sincere towards that.”
