JAMMU, Apr 10(TNI ): Reeling under the ever increasing price rise of the essential commodities with each passing day, the construction of the houses and other commercial establishment for the Jammuties would become more expensive as the rates of the construction material is going to increase by 20-25 percent.
The prices of the material used in the construction such as sand, grinded stones would be increased keeping in view the increased prices of Diesel and Petrol, new tenders by the Geological and Mining Department, chances of increased power tariff.
Talking to the TNI, president, Stone Crusher Association, Choudhary Vikram Randhawa said that we were forced to increase the prices of the construction material because of ever increasing input costs. Onus of this price rise lies on the state government, which was not paying any heed to our repeated demands to provide us concessions for the benefit of the common masses.
Randhawa appealed to the public that to avoid loss, only buy the construction material on the rates per square feet not on the lump-sump rates per trolley or tipper. This usually benefits the operators of trolley and tipper but customer incurs loss in the quantity.
Suresh Kumar-a government employee termed the price rise unfortunate. He said that he had purchased some land in the out skirts of the city three years ago. I was about to start the construction work shortly and this price rise will increase my budget. It is going to affect middle class badly as there is heavy demand of the houses with increased incomes of the middle classes.
