Jammu: March: Continuing with the indefinites Protest against the anti-Students attitude Vice-Chancellor of JU, Activists of National Secular Forum today held protest demonstration in the campus and also burnt the effigy of Vice-Chancellor Jammu University.Protesting scholars and students led by Vikas Sharma, NSF State President, were raising slogans against the Vice-Chancellor for not taking note of their demands and maintaining stoic silence over the entire matter.
He said that the issues like demand of holding external audit in the financial bungling, out of turn promotion are given to the faculty members neglecting the UGC guidelines, students coming from far flung areas as no hostel facility, late results declared by the examinations wing always, hushing up the marks tampering case and mass copying in the B. Ed. Examination, He said that Prof Varun Sahni for shielding fraudulent and corrupt officials of the university.
He alleged that funds in every department whether it is Controller office or Register office or Dean Student Welfare are not utilized properly and while the authorities failed to fix the responsibility.
“The higher officials of the varsity are living a luxurious life by spending the funds meant for students’ community, while students are being deprived of basic amenities and infrastructure .this is not to be tolerated,” he charged.
He further alleged that the Registrar has developed a nexus with some senior officials and professors of the varsity and he had been making all out efforts to shield the guilty officials.
He said so far the university has been mute spectator and nothing has been done for the welfare of the students. He said that this will not be tolerated and NSF will launch agitation against all these issues on the arrival of Prime Minister to Jammu.
He added that the main aim of protest against the arrival of the PM in the Jammu, is to attract the attention of the youth towards him and the same youth is going to hold protest against his arrival by holding black batches.
Among those who were present in the Protest included, Sukdev Singh, Balveer Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Muzaffar Iqbal, Irfan Ahmed, Irshad, Zaheer, Ajaz Shah, Imran, Zahoor, Washim, Mohd. Zamir, Zulfkar, Mohd. Qayoom Malik, Layaqat Ali Khan, Shri Ram and others.
