By Asif Iqbal Naik , Kishtwar June 5:- In order to press their demand for regularization of their services, 70 National Youth Corps (NYC) Volunteers including 11 females today court arrested at police station Kishtwar in presence of DY. SP HQ Kishtwar Abrar Ahmed Chowdhary and SHO Police Station Kishtwar Mushtaq Ahmed. All the agitating NYC volunteers were released nearly one hour after they court arrested themselves. Later the agitating volunteers sit on fast outside Deputy Commissioner Office Kishtwar which is still continues when last report came in.
Earlier NYC activist along with their supporters held a strong protest in the form of rally which started from Dak Banglow Kishtwar. After covering the distance of nearly one kilometer passing through main Shaheedi Road Kishtwar, the agitating volunteers block the National Highway outside DC Office Kishtwar for more than 2 hours as a result of which the vehicular movement on every busy road comes to stand still. Tehsildar Kishtwar Indeerjeet Singh Parihar also held a brief meeting with the agitating volunteers and tries to pacify them. Tehsildar Kishtwar informed the agitating youths that District Administration Kishtwar has received no information regarding their disengagement, but the agitating youths turns deaf ear towards the request made by Tehsildar Kishtwar and continued their protest before all the agitating youth volunteers march towards police station Kishtwar and court arrested themselves.
While talking to the media persons, Kuldeep Singh Rathore condemns the attitude of Congress MP Chowdhary Lal Singh. The agitating youths alleged that when the NYC volunteers approach Chowdhary Lal Singh during his recent visit to Kishtwar with their grievances, MP instead gives patient hearing to their demand uses rough language. “He used word Maroo (Die) when we informed him about the plight of NYC activists sitting on fast in Kashmir.” Said Kuldeep Rather. He said that the attitude of Congress MP is condemnable and demanded an unconditional apology from him. He said that the move of government regarding disengaging their services is injustice with over 8000 NYC volunteers and said that the concerned departments are in need of their services. He said that the government should formulate a policy to engage all the NYC volunteers working in state of Jammu and Kashmir. Mr. Kuldeep said that on one hand side government claims that they are committed towards eradication of unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir and on the other hand side the government is disengaging their services. He said that in case the government fails to fulfill their demand, the will wage a war against the government and will even not hesitate to joins the ranks of naxalites. They urged upon the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to personally intervene into the matter before the things will get out of control.
