By Ali Faiz : Doda, February 16: After the four new Medical Colleges were announced for Jammu and Kashmir by Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, thousands of people from Doda region and others parts
of Chenab region in a rally held under the banner of Joint Civil Society welcome this historic decision for opening of Medical Colleges at Doda, Kathua, Anantnag and Baramulla besides sanctioning of two Cancer Hospitals in the state.
Describing it as a gift for the people of Jammu and Kashmir particularly for the people of District Doda, the members termed it as a positive step taken by the Union Health Ministry towards the improvement of the health care system in the Chenab region, which is an accidental prone region in the state.
Social Activists Nuzhat Iqbal Zargar while speaking on the occasion expressed her gratitude and thanked Gh Nabi Azad for according sanction of opening of New Medical College at Doda, added that it will directly benefit the poor people of entire erstwhile Doda District who can’t afford to go outside their District for better treatment.
Another Social Activist Ishtiaq Ahmed Dev said that the establishment of new medical college at Doda will open new avenues for the talented youth of Chenab region who want to pursue professional courses like MBBS and BDS.
President Beopar Mandal Doda Karamtullah Nehru in his statement also expressed his gratitude and thanked Union Health Minister Gh Nabi Azad for this great decision, said it would help the poor patients of this state and also improve the health care facility which the people would
now get at this door steps.
District President RET Forum Doda Sajad Malik, said with the opening of these medical colleges in the state, the poor students aspiring to join medical college won’t feel disappointed as lack of options, as now they are getting more medical colleges at their door steps which would help in producing good doctors .
Among others those who expressed their gratitude and thanked Gh Nabi Azad included Low paid Employees Leaders Ghulam Hassan Pampori, Shakeel Ahmed Dev, President Doda Welfare Society Mohammad Iqbal Balwan, District President AISF Mukesh Parihar, President Medical Employees Federation Mehboob Kraipak, NRHM Paramedical Association Leader Faizan Tramboo, President Pensioners Association Akhter Hussain Gattu, Doda Youth Federation Members Rajid Wani, Waseem
Raja and Nasir Dev, Patron YSCC Doda Manzoor Ahmed Batt, President NRHM Association Dr Hamid Parray besides various social and political leaders also hailed Azad’s decision.
Meanwhile Minister for R&B and MLA Doda Abdul Majid Wani has also expressed gratitude to Union Health Minister Gh Nabi Azad for announcing a medical college for Doda. Appreciating the efforts of Azad, Wani said this will prove to be a boon for people of the District and its adjoining areas to have advanced diagnostic and treatment services at their doorsteps besides facilitating the medical students. MLA Bhaderwah Mohammad Sharief Naiz also thanked Gh Nabi Azad for opening for new medical colleges in the state, hoped that it will be major boost to the health sector in state.
