MOHD MAJID MALIK , BHADERWAH,Sept 12— a part of ongoing process of winning hearts and minds of the local population the Army has been constantly undertakikng a variety of projects for welfare and motivation of AWAM. This time 4 Rashtriya Rifles located at Bhadarwah under the aegis of the Counter Insurgency Force (Delta) took an initiative and organised Horse Race for Gujjars and Bakkarwals at Padri Gali here today under Operation Sadhbhavana.During summer a large number of Gujjars and Bakkarwals from different parts of Jammu & Kashmir congregate on the higher ridges of Bhadarwah Tehsil. Residing in these areas is a challenging task for them in terms of food, water and basic health amenities. The life of these Gujjars and Bakkarwals is quite monotonous as well. In order to break the routine and promote recreational activities to expand their cultural and social horizons and motivation of Gujjars and Bakkarwals a Horse Race was organised. A total of 72 Gujjars and Bakkarwals participated in the race and their remarkable performance was awarded with cash prizes of Ten thousand, Seven thousand and five thousand to winner, Runner up and Second Runner up respectively alongiwth gifts. A total of 250 Gujjars and Bakkarwals were present during the occasion.A Medical Camp was also organized during the event to provide medical advice and free medicine distribution for the Gujjars and Bakkarwals.On this occasion Mr Fakir Hussain, Numberdar of Padri Gali thanked Army for organising this event and said that these kind of activities keep them motivated and has brought colours to their monotonous life.
