December 24 :Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, gave a clarion call to the youth to contribute actively towards preservation of the rich cultural heritage of the State. He was addressing the Annual Function ‘Jashan-2009-10’ at Peterhoff, organized by Chopal Students Welfare Association, here today.
Chief Minister said that Himachal Pradesh had variety culture which presents a rainbow of different colours since every area had its own distinctive cultural identity. He said that youth could play pivotal role in preservation of rich cultural heritage of the State by propogating the same on all occasions of importance, so that the young generation could be proud of their rich cultural heritage. He said that State had varied cultural variety which represent different areas and identifies it with the area concerned. He said that youth needed to learn from their seniors about the rich traditional culture of values. He said that such activities would not only preserve the culture but also bind the society into bond of brotherhood.
Prof. Dhumal said that it had been a historic fact that only those countries and communities had prospered who were deeply rooted into their culture which make their identity distinctive. He said that a nation with rich cultural heritage is more stronger than others, who imitate and borrow the same. He said that the State Government was paying added attention towards the development of Chopal area and bring it into the mainstream from backwardness. He appreciated the endeavour of the Association for helping people from the area who visit Shimla for various reasons. He said that blood donation activities also deserved appreciation since it was real service towards the suffering and ailing humanity. He said that the Association needed to serve the people who deserved any help from it so that the name and fame of the Association could travel to farther corners of the State.
Chief Minister announced a grant of Rs. 25,000 towards the cultural promotional activities of the association. He also wished people of Chopal assembly segment a Happy and Prosperous New Year – 2010.
A variety cultural programme was also presented to mark the celebration. Shri Anil Kimta, Guest of Honour and Editor, Janpaksh Mail, apprised CM of various activities of the Association.
Ms. Veena Thakur, General Secretary, welcomed the Chief Minister and other dignitaries.
Shri Rohit Ramta, President of the Association and Kanwar Uday Singh were also present.
