July 13, 2009: Department of Information Technology is organizing a two days state level workshop on National e-Governance Plan on 15th and 16th July, 2009 in Peterhof, Shimla. Chief Minister Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal will inaugurate the workshop and the valedictory session will be presided over by the Chief Secretary to the Government of Himachal Pradesh. All the Secretaries and HODs of various departments will be present in the workshop. Senior Officers from Department of Information Technology, Government of India will also attend this workshop.
Vision of the National e-Governance Plan is to make all Government services accessible to the common man in his locality, through common service delivery outlets and ensure efficiency, transparency & reliability of such services at affordable costs to realise the basic needs of the common man. Under National e-Governance Plan various projects like Community Service Centres (CSC), State Portal & State Services Delivery Gateway (SSDG), State Wide Area Network (HIMSWAN) and State Data Center (SDC) etc. are being taken up.
The Department of Information Technology, Government of Himachal Pradesh is in the stage of implementation of these projects in the State. Under the Common Service Centre (CSC) scheme, 3366 centres called Lokmitra Kendras are being setup in the State. There are also some Mission Mode Projects identified for the State departments under this plan. Priorities will be fixed for various departments and the services pertaining to the departments will be discussed during this workshop which will be provided through various sources like internet, Lokmitra Kendra (CSC) etc. with the citizen centric focus. Deliberations regarding possible funding sources and preparation of Project Reports for the various e-Governance projects will also be done.
