December 25, 2008 :The State Government has enhanced the authorized capital of State Scheduled Cast and Scheduled Tribe Corporation from Rs 40 crore to 60 crore, in order to give benefit to more and more people of these communities. This was stated by Smt. Sarveen Chaudhary, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, in the meeting of the Board of Directors of the Corporation, held here today.
Smt. Chaudhary said that 2188 families have been provided loans to the tune of Rs.8.49 crore under self- employment schemes. She said that the Corporation was implementing the tribal women empowerment scheme under which financial assistance of Rs. 20.53 lakh has been given to 42 women, adding that the unemployed youth of scheduled castes have been provided shops in different areas of the State to start their self-employment avenues.
Smt. Sarveen Chaudhary further said that the Corporation has also been extending the facilities of education loans under which Rs. 13.89 lakh have been disbursed among 32 beneficiaries of scheduled castes. In order to bring awareness among the people of these communities, as many as 112 camps were organized to disseminate the information about various schemes and programmes of the Corporation.
Smt. Chaudhary directed the officers of the Corporation to work with missionary zeal and enthusiasm to meet out the targets within the stipulated period.
Smt. Rashima Gupta, Principal Secretary of Social Justice and Empowerment and Shri R.S.Negi, Managing Director of the SCST Corporation enlisted the activities of the Corporation during the meeting.
