March 24,A Spokesman of the State Government said here today that Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India has instituted an Award
called ‘National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement’ to give recognition to children within the age group of 4-15 years with exceptional abilities and outstanding calibre in different fields such as academics, arts, culture and sports.
He said that the award would be given to one child from each State/UT. He said that there will be one gold medal for one child on All India basis and silver medals for one child from each State/UT. He said that a cash prize of Rs. 20,000, citation and a gold medal would be given to the gold medallist whereas other children would be presented a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each, citation and a silver medal.The Spokesman said that last date for sending the recommendations of State Government/UT administration to the Ministry of Women and Child Development would be 31st July, 2008.
