10 Oct : Spearheading a membership drive to strengthen the party’s youth wing in various parts of the country, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit Himachal Pradesh next week to interact with college and university students and galvanise the organisation in the state.
During his day-long visit on 13th October, Gandhi will meet students of Himachal Pradesh University in Shimla and also have an audience with youths at Dharamsala, Ragini Nayak, General Secretary of National Students Union of India (NSUI), the party’s student wing, said in Shimla today.
The visit of the Amethi MP is expected to boost the membership drive of the party’s student wing, which ends on 15th October.
The NSUI had a total membership of 30,000 last year, Nayak said.
NSUI failed to put up a good performance in the recent elections to the colleges and HPU in the hill state.
