Palampur,April 22:A Spokesman of the State Government said here today that the dream of Shri Shanta Kumar, senior BJP leader and Member Rajya Sabha of setting up of Vivekanand Medical Research Institution at Palampur would be fulfilled soon.He said that detailed discussions were held between Shri Shanta Kumar who is the Chairman of Vivekanand Medical Research Institution and Shri J.P. Gaur and Shri Manoj Gaur of the Jay Pee Sewa Sansthan at New Delhi on 19th April, 2008 and they agreed for setting up of a Super Speciality Hospital, Medical and Nursing College at Palampur in collaboration with Vivekanand Medical Trust and Jay Pee Sewa Sansthan.
He said that Shri Shanta Kumar performed bhoomi poojan of the institution on 15th November, 1992, however, the BJP Government lost the power on 15th December, 1992 and the work on this project was stalled. He said that efforts were made in this direction by the previous BJP Government in 1998 and land was sanctioned on lease for the institution besides Rs. 4.23 crore for execution of the project.Spokesman said that the work on this project again came to standstill in 2003 when the Government changed and added that again concrete efforts were being made to accelerate the pace of the ambitious project after BJP formed the Government in the State. He said that completion of the project was also included in the election manifesto of the party during recently held assembly elections and Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister has promised to fulfill the dream of Shri Shanta Kumar. The meeting of Shri Shanta Kumar and Shri J.P. Gaur proved to be a milestone and Vivekanand Medical Research Institution would provide medical education besides better health services to the people of the area, he added.
