October 03, 2008 :Shri B.K. Aggarwal, Secretary, Language, Art and Culture said here today that Himachal Academy of Language, Art and Culture with the cooperation of Kullu district administration and Dussehra Committee would, for the first time, organize ‘’Lok Ramayan Parv’’ during the forthcoming International Kullu Dussehra-2008.
He said that the presentation and staging of Ramayan would go a long way in preservation of this great Indian spiritual legacy, traditional folk songs, instrumental music besides adding glamour and vibration to the event.
Shri B.K. Aggarwal further informed that five cultural troupes are being invited from different areas including Fagu (Shimla), Shillai ( Sirmour), Nirmand(Kullu), Hamirpur and Bharmour( Chamba) where the tradition of presenting Ramayan in the form of opera is still existing. He said that operatic performance of Ramayan in the form of Masada gayan would be presented by Bharmour troupe on 9th and 10th October while Chaddi cultural troupe Nirmand, Wavlaj troupe Fagu, cultural troupes from Hamirpur and Shillai would perform on 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th October respectively. He said that as many as 54 artistes would participate in this mega cultural event.
He said that the tradition of dramatizing Ramakatha during Kullu Dusshehra would continue in future also and be sanctified with time. He said that the Academy with its great efforts had succeeded in exploring the traditional operatic performance of Ramayana Shrut, which bears manifestation to our sublime spiritual heritage and its preservation for our coming generations.
