Shri V.S. Kokje, Governor inaugurated the State level Sujanpur Holi festival at Sujanpur Tihra in district Hamirpur today. He offered prayers in the local Murli Manohar temple and participated in the traditional procession on the occasion.
Shri Kokje lauded the people of Sujanpur Tihra for preserving their old traditions and felicitated them on the occasion of Holi. He said that fairs and festivals go a long way in preserving the cultural heritage besides strengthening the bonds of brotherhood. He said that the festival depicted the culture of the area.
Governor also inaugurated exhibitions put up by various departments and evinced keen interest in the exhibits. He said that they contribute in generating awareness about various welfare schemes.Earlier, he also performed turban wearing ceremony on the occasion.
Smt. Urmil Thakur, MLA, Miss. Nandita Gupta, Deputy Commissioner, Shri Asif Jalal, Superintendent of Police, Shri Vijay Chandan, Additional District Magistrate, Shri Narender Sharma, SDM and eminent citizens of Sujanpur Tihra and Hamirpur were also present on the occasion.
