October 02, 2008 :Smt. Prabha Rau, Governor underlined the need to promote Hindi language and added that Hindi could play a significant role in strengthening the unity and integrity of the nation. She was addressing the 21st All India Rajbhasha Sammelan organized by National Hindi Academy Rupambra here today.
Smt. Rau emphasized upon making concrete efforts to popularize Hindi language and added that the language should be used extensively in day-to-day life in the entire country to achieve the objective. She said that simplification of Hindi was essential to popularize the same. She said that Hindi is our national language and it should be promoted and enriched further and added that nations, which do not preserve their language, literature and culture, lose their identity.
Governor said that national leaders like Late Mahatma Gandhi, Netaji Subhash Chander Bose and Acharya Vinoba Bhave always stressed upon promoting Hindi and addressed the people in this language only. She further said that freedom fighters expressed their ideas through Hindi language during freedom struggle and it played a vital role in uniting the people of the country. She said that the identity and unity of the country could be preserved only by strengthening Hindi language.
Smt. Rau lauded the dedicated efforts of National Hindi Academy Rupambra in promoting Hindi language and added that it has also strengthened linguistic unity besides promoting cultural interaction.
Governor honoured eminent scholars and writers Shri Om Prakash Awasthy of Dharamshala, Shri Chaman Lal Gupta of Shimla, Shri Vijay Bahadur Singh of Bhopal, Shri B. Ram Sanjeevaiya of Banglore and Hari Pal Singh of Delhi with Vishishtha Hindi Sewa Samman.
She conferred the Rashtriya Rahbhasha Shield Samman upon Lok Sabha, Union Textile Ministry, Union Water Resources Ministry, National Thermal Power Corporation, Hindustan Latex Limited, Bokaro Steel Plant, National Hydroelectric Power Corporation, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, ECGCIE-Mumbai, and Import Export Bank.
Governor also awarded Rajbhasha Patrika Shield Samman to "Vipasha", ”Bhilai Bhasha Bharti", "Taana Baana","Priyadarshani" and "Aarohan".
Dr. Ratnakar Pandey, Former MP and Honorary Chairman, National Hindi Academy also spoke on the occasion.
Dr. Swadesh Bharti, Chairman, National Hindi Academy welcomed the Governor.
Shri Rajender Joshi, Director, National Hindi Academy proposed vote of thanks.
A colourful cultural programme was also presented on the occasion.
