October 03, 2008 : Smt. Sarveen Chaudhary, Social Justice & Empowerment Minister said here today that the State Government has raised the matter of enhancing the honorarium of aganwari workers and helpers with the Centre Government effectively. She said that she had personally pleaded the matter on 28th and 29th January, 2008 in the National Level Meeting of Social Justice and Empowerment Ministers and Secretaries at New Delhi.Smt. Chaudhary in a communication, requested the Centre Government to raise the honorarium of aganwari workers and helpers to Rs. 4000 and Rs. 2000 respectively, keeping in view the importance of their services. She said that she also urged the Centre to integrate crèches with anganwari centres in order to improve their working.
The Minister said that keeping in view the difficult geographical conditions of the State, the parameters for sanctioning anganwari centres should be redefined and the population criteria for sanctioning anganwari centre and mini anganwari centre should be 150 and 50-100 respectively. She also urged for budget provision for providing modern equipment like computer etc. for anganwari centres under ICDS programme.
