21 Nov : State Government is endeavouring to get Dogra Regimental Centre shifted from Faizabad to Una and set up one Medical College in the district.
This was stated by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, while addressing a mammoth public meeting at Basdehra in Una district after he dedicated Bridge over Jalgran Khad, completed at a cost of Rs. 166 lakh, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhawan at Behdala, completed at a cost of Rs. 16.75 lakh bridge on Handola completed at a cost of 39.58 lakh, laid foundation stone of bridge over Jalgran Khad-II on Behdala, estimated to cost Rs. 171.57 lakh and Primary Health Centre Building at Basdehra, estimated to cost Rs. 112.18 lakh and Multipurpose Training Centre (Integrated Watershed Management) at Una estimated to cost Rs.11.0 lakh and benefit 95 gram panchayats of the area today.
Chief Minister said that State Government had raised the matter of Dogra Regiment relocation in Una district from the Central Government since maximum Dogra Sainik were from the State and it would also help in enhancing the capabilities.
Prof. Dhumal called Swan River channelization as his dream project for which he had been fighting since the time he was Member of Parliament from the area. He said that Rs. 10 crore first phase of the project had been completed successfully and Rs. 235crore on second phase had also been sanctioned. He said that the State Government was committed to save the fertile land of farmers on either side of Swan River and efforts were being made to reclaim the land washed away due to floods in Swan River. He said that soon the river would be a river of happiness which earlier was known as River of sorrow.
Chief Minister said that farmers needed to switch over to sprinkler irrigation system which would be water efficient and cover maximum area under irrigation facilities. He announced Rs. 1.5 crore for Bhabour Sahib Irrigation Project and Rs. 1.00 crore for new building at Govt. Senior Secondary School Basdehra. He said that funds would also be provided for construction of memorial in the name of Late Shri Subhash Sohar. He also announced to name Primary Health Centre, Basdehra after Late Ram Krishan and provide funds for more tube wells.
Prof. Dhumal said that Rs. 6.80 crore were being spent over construction of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhawan in every assembly segment in the State and so far 45 such Bhawans had been dedicated to the people of the areas. He said that soon every segment would be getting Bhawan for community activities and celebrations etc. He remembered Late Shri Des Raj Thakur, MLA
from the area and paid his tribute to the Late leader. He assured sympathetic consideration over all demands raised by Local MLA. He said that efforts would be made to provide Astro-turf hockey ground in Una to promote local hockey talents. He also appealed to the people to donate liberally towards the Chief Minister Relief Fund instead of spending over the flowers, bouquets, garlands and gifts etc. to the dignitaries. He said that it would be a goodwill gesture towards the suffering humanity, who had been under financial stress to get themselves treated medically for various ailments and to help them lead a healthy life in the society.
Chief Minister was presented a draft of Rs. 21,000 by Industrial Area, Mehatpur, Rs. 21,000 by Shri Mahinder Singh, Rs. 11,000 each by S/Shri Balbir Bagga, Truck Union, Mehatpur, Sarv Seva Mandal, Contractors Union, Rs. 5100 by Nagar Panchayat, Mehatpur, Nain Devi Seva Dal, Thakur Dwara Temple Trust, GSSS, Basdehra and by PHC Basdehra as contribution towards the Chief Minister Relief Fund on the occasion for which Chief Minister thanked all the donors for their generous gesture towards the deserving section of the society.
Shri Satpal Singh Satti, Chief Parliamentary Secretary and Local MLA welcomed the Chief Minister and congratulated him for winning National- Level-Award under State of the States survey conducted by prestigious India Today group of the country. He thanked Chief Minister for sanctioning funds for Swan River channelization and filling up vacancies in education and health institutions. He counted developmental milestones established during BJP regime in the State, especially in road construction, bridges, health and education institutions.
