September 08, 2008:Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister, emphasized the need for documentation of the allied astrological sciences for the betterment of humanity which were at the verge of near extinction to make India a world leader in all respects.
He was addressing the closing ceremony of the day-long Astrologers Conference organized by Trikal Jyotish and Paravigyan Anusandhan Sansthan (Tribal Astrology and Allied Sciences Research Institution) here last evening.
Chief Minister said that the Indian astrology was scientifically advanced and find mention in the ancient scriptures like Ved and Puran. He said that the astrology had a numerous allied sciences like Vastu Shastra, Tantra Vidya and other similar disciplines, which were nearing extinction due to non-practice and reluctance of the coming generations to learn the same. He said that the astrologers who had mastered such sciences needed to share the same with next generations and teach them about such disciplines, so that it were preserved for the welfare and betterment of the humanity. He said that all such sciences had positive and negative impacts which needed to be adhered only for the betterment of the human beings. He said that people misusing such sciences for harming the others were not the well wishers of the society and needed to be guarded by the aware people in the society. He said that India had always shown the path to rest of the world and the astrological advancements had acclaimed universal recognition for its well calculated predictions. He said that the modern sciences had yet to reach the level of astrological sciences which was in practice since the origin of the astrology.
Prof. Dhumal emphasized the need to rewrite the history, as number of historical facts quoted in the history had become obsolete and incorrect with the factual position coming forward. He said that the young generation needed to be taught the history based upon facts and figures which had been proved with documentary support. He said that the history should not be based upon the mere hearsay and should correlate with the historical events which took place during the period. He said that history was the base of any country and everyone feels proud of the same, since it helped a nation to grow up with maturity. He said the exhaustive research by historians was required to be undertaken to ascertain the genuineness of the historical events which could withstand the scrutiny of the facts and figures.
Chief Minister said that the Indian religious customs practiced by the saints and sages of worshipping tree, mountain, water,air, fire, earth and sky, were aimed at protecting the environment, since all such were essentials for the survival of all living beings. He said that our forefathers considered nature as supreme power and always worked to preserve the same for the benefit of the humanity and all living beings. He said that wherever human beings acted against the nature it invited devastation putting survival of all living beings at stake. He added that religion shows path to human beings and no religion teaches hatred violence and disrespect to other faiths. He said that all faiths teach religious and communal harmony, which needed to be upheld for the welfare of the humanity.
Prof. Dhumal gave a clarion call to all astrologers who had mastered the allied sciences to share their knowledge with the next generations so that the ancient sciences were saved from extinction and welfare of the humanity was ensured. He said that all such masters would thereby be contributing significantly towards preservation of the astrological sciences on the one hand and make India a world leader in coming years on the other hand.
Chief Minister also welcomed the participating astrologers to the State and honoured them on the occasion. He also released the souvenir brought out by the organisers to mark the conference.
Shri Gobind Sharma MLA and Shri Ganesh Dutt, President, District Shimla BJP, spoke about the importance of astrology in the day to day life of the people practicing Hinduism. They said that the well calculated predictions made by astrologers had always taken people by surprise.
Dr. Kishori Lal Sharma, Founder and Organizer of Tribal Jyotish and Paravigyan Anusandhan Sansthan, welcomed and thanked the Chief Minister while Dr. Mast Ram Katiyal, President, spoke about the objective behind formation of the former.
Shri Vikram Sharma, spoke about Tantra Vidya and Shri Chaman Lal Asthana about the Vastu Shastra. Veteran astrologer Pandit Uma Datt Pathak also shared his experiences as an astrologer.
Shri Bishambar Lal Sood, Patron, Shri Vimal Rai Sharma Vice President, Shri Som Datt Sharma, Vice President, Shri Hari Krishan Sharma, Treasurer and Shri Rama Nand Sharma, Principal, Government Sanskrit College, were prominent among others present on the occasion.
