State Government has launched Matri Seva Yojna providing pregnant women of the State, facility for free institutional delivery in all the government health institutions in the State. This was revealed by Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal, Chief Minister while addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of Primary Health Centre at Kuthera in Hamirpur district, estimated to cost Rs. 43 lakh, today.
Chief Minister said that the State Government had launched ‘Matri Seva Yojna’ in the State with a view to provide pregnant women free delivery facility in the state owned health institutions. He said that since the launch of the scheme 25,053 safe deliveries had been carried in the State and an expenditure of Rs. 2.03 crore was incurred over the same. He said that the scheme aimed at ensuring the health of the mother and child. He said that besides free institutional delivery, required life saving drugs were also being made available free to the patients. He said that the State Government had also launched ‘Mukhya Mantri Vidyarthi Swasthya Yojna’ providing students free medical check-up and to detect any health problems occurring amongst the young citizens and diagnose the same in time to cure the same effectively.
Prof. Dhumal said that the State Government had also launched Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna providing health insurance cover to the BPL families upto Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 1.75 lakh in case of critical ailments. He said that 24,003 eligible persons had been benefitted under the scheme and Rs. 9.03 crore were spent over the same. He said that the State had ranked number one in preparation of Smart Cards provided to the eligible families under the scheme and was awarded for the same at national level. He said that Smart Card holding was prerequisite for availing of Health Insurance Scheme benefits. He said that the Smart Card issuance process was being started again in the State and urged people to contact their local authorities to get themselves Smart Cards to avail of the facility. He also appealed to the representatives of the panchayati raj institutions, social workers, NGOs and official machinery to motivate the masses to get themselves Smart Cards issued by the designated authorities so that they were also able to avail of the Insurance benefits.
Chief Minister said that the state Government was committed to provide best of the health facilities to the people residing in rural areas. He said that the existing network of health institutions was being equipped with best of the facilities to cater to the requirements of the local populace. He said that the state government had so far spent Rs. 234.48 crore over the construction of various health institutions and creation of infrastructural facilities to the people during current financial year. He said that latest and best of the medical equipments were being provided in each of the health institutions. He said that against the national norm of 20,000 population, state had one health institution for 12,000 persons which speaks of the priority, State Government was according to the health sector. He further said that efforts had been made to provide functional staff to every health institution in the State to ensure that the people of the area were benefited with best of the medical services.
Later, addressing people in the foundation stone laying ceremony of the PHC building at Kangoo village, estimated to cost Rs. 39 lakh, Prof. Dhumal thanked the land donors of the village which he said was a pious service they had done towards the suffering humanity. He urged people to donate land for construction of roads and buildings of public service so that best of the infrastructure was created in the state. He appealed to the people to take benefit of various schemes e.g. ‘Pandit Deen Dayal Kisaan Baagwan Samridhi Yojna’, ‘Doodh Ganga Yojna’, ‘Bhed Palak Yojna’ etc. which aimed at rural empowerment and to generate self employment avenues to the educated unemployed youth at their door steps. He said that laboratory and X-ray facility would also be made available to the villagers in PHC Kangoo on its becoming functional.
Prof. Dhumal said that the ‘Atal Swasthya Seva Yojna’ had emerged a great success since free ambulance service was being made available to the critically ill patients. He said that eight safe deliveries had been carried in the ambulances which were self contained in all respects besides accompanied by trained medical staff with all equipments etc. He appealed to the people to make use of the service and refrain from making any hoax calls which could put emergency services into peril. He said that more medical colleges in private sector were being opened in the State which included one such college in Hamirpur district also.
Chief Minister also listened to the public grievances at Kuthera and Kangoo after laying foundation stone of the PHC buildings and passed necessary directions to the concerned authorities to provide relief to the aggrieved. He assured the people that all their genuine grievances would be addressed on priority. He sanctioned Rs. 3.5 lakh for community hall at village Sakoh.
Chief Minister also honoured the people who had donated land for the PHC building at Kangoo. He was also presented a draft of Rs. 9,000 by Principal, GSSS, Kangoo, and Rs. 3,100 by local Gram Panchayat as contribution towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He also released audio CD of folk songs “Kangna” produced by Shri Pammi Thakur
Smt. Urmil Thakur, MLA, welcomed the Chief Minister and thanked him for laying the foundation stone of the PHC building at Kuthera and urged him to direct the authorities to complete the same in a time bound manner.
