Dec 13–The three-day workshop on “Combating Trafficking in Human Beings” concluded today at Madhuban in district Karnal with a resolve to protect the victims of this despicable crime.
Mr S.N. Vashisht, ADGP, Crime Haryana, nodal officer for this programme was the Chief Guest who said that trafficking in human beings mainly adversely effects the people living in lowest strata of the society. This workshop on combating trafficking in human beings is just a small beginning in eradication of this social malady.He said that although we come across the incidents of human trafficking in our life yet these are ignored. Therefore, he appealed to all the concerned agencie in general and the participants in particular to start protecting victims of this despicable crime.
Mr Sudhir Chowdhary, Director Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban said that it’s a matter of great pride for Haryana Police Academy for having organized this workshop successfully on this important social issue. The programme was designed with a view to strike a balance between theoretical and its practical application in real situations.
He said that the present workshop had been organized under the aegis of BPRD New Delhi, which is premier agency for monitoring the police training throughout India. A total 54 participants from different departments like Prosecution, Police, Health, Women and Child Development, Labour Department and Non-Government organization from the Northern region States of Jammu and Kashmir , Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttrakhand, Delhi took part in this workshop. The participants have been trained as trainer in this workshop and it would help them to further work with more zeal and enthusiasm in prevention of human trafficking in all forms.
He said that trafficking in human beings and their exploitation is a despicable crime. Human trafficking not only completely violates the human dignity but by this human trafficking an individual also loses all his health, wealth liberty of life and his rights of safety against violation. The weaker sections of the society like women and children are the main targets and affected human beings of this crime. They lose the rights to education, employment and right of self determination. Trafficking in human being is most lucrative business and is spreading as an industry at an alarming speed.
In this workshop experts from different fields participated. They included Dr. P.M. Nair, IPS, ADGP/OPS (CRPF/HQ) New Delhi, Mr. N.C.Joshi, Former DGP BPR&D, New Delhi, Dr. K.P. Singh, IPS, IGP, Haryana, Mr. O.P. Chhatwal, DIG (Retd.) CBI,Dr. Achal Bhagat, Apollo Hospital, New Delhi, Dr. (Ms.) Sunitha Krishnan, Prajawala, Hyderabad, Sh. Arvind Jain, Advocate Supreme Court, New Delhi, Mr. Bhuwan Ribhu, New Delhi, Mr. Ravikant Shrivastav, Executive Director, Shakti Vahini, were invited to share their valuable view with the participants. the experts updated the knowledge of participants with regard to legal provisions for investigation and prosecution, rescue and rehabilitation of the victims. A total of 54 officials from various departments like Police, Prosecution, Health, Labour, Women and Child Development and NGOs took part in this workshop.
