Sirsa, July 21: Thousands of women joined massive ‘Matka Phod’ protest march at Sirsa today. District women cell of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) had organized the protest march against the scarcity of water-electricity & deteriorating law & order situation. INLD leader Mrs Kanta Chautala led this unique 3 kilometer long march.
While addressing the women protestors, INLD senior leader, Mr Abhey Singh Chautala said that water-electricity crisis is worsening in all parts of the state including Sirsa district. Law & order situation has gone out of control and there is total ‘Jungle Raj’, he added.
Sirsa Zila Parishad president, Mr Chautala said that last week only, people of Sirsa district had organized a total ‘Bandh’ at the call of INLD but situation has remained same and there was no improvement.
Congratulating the women wing workers for the success of this protest march, Mr Chautala said that if administration and the government did not acted in time, INLD workers would further intensify the agitation. He said that this agitation was intended to awaken the Government and its representatives including ministers, MLAs, OSD, Planning Commission Vice Chairman, other wise people would be forced to put embargo at their residences. They would not be allowed to get out of their houses and enter other villages of the district, he further added.
Earlier, thousands of women activists led by INLD leader Mrs. Kanta Chautala marched to District Secretariat from local grain market alongwith empty ‘Matkas’ (pitchers). Women were raising anti Hooda government slogans. Memorandum was also submitted to Deputy Commissioner, Mr V. Uma Shankar. Former Darba Kalan MLA, Mrs. Vidya Beniwal, Sirsa INLD women president, Mrs. Krishna Phogat, INLD Women state senior Vice President, Mrs Promilla Sharma participated in the march along with MLA Dr Sita Ram, Dr Sushil Indora, District INLD president, Mr Padam Jain, INLD leader Mr Amir Chawla and other senior party leaders.
