Chandigarh, August 6 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced to enhance the Samman Allowance of Freedom Fighters from Rs.11,000 to Rs.15,000 and added that they would get it from Independence Day, August 15, this year.
Mr. Hooda was addressing a felicitation function organized by All India Freedom Fighters and Successor Organization at Hisar today.
The Chief Minister said that being the Chairman of the organization, he was trying his best to get the families of all freedom fighters declared as National Family. He said that the State Government had also decided that a doctor would visit every month the house of each freedom fighter for their medical checkup. Instructions to this effect have been given to all Deputy Commissioners and the district administration would make all arrangements for medical treatment of freedom fighters in hospitals. On this occasion, a two minute silence was observed to mourn the death of freedom fighter Mr. Babu Ram who breathed his last two days ago. A film based on the life of members of Constituent Assembly and freedom fighter Mr. Ranbir Singh Hooda was also screened on this occasion.
Chairman Freedom Fighter Honour Committee, Mr. Hari Ram Arya thanked the Chief Minster for implementation of welfare schemes for freedom fighters and their families.
Mr. Hooda said that freedom fighters had made supreme sacrifices for freedom of the country. People of Haryana had contributed a lot in freedom struggle and it was a matter of pride that every tenth soldier in defence forces belonged to Haryana.
On this occasion, Political Advisor to Chief Minister, Prof. Virender Singh, former Minister, Mr. Jai Parkash, Chairman Zila Parishad, Dr. Rajinder Sura, Principal OSD, Mr. M.S. Chopra, Media Advisor to Chiefr Minister Mr. Sunder Pal, a number of freedom fighters and their family members were also present.
