Chandigarh, November 3-Over 30.88 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has so far arrived in the Mandis of Haryana as compared to over 25.74 lakh metric tonnes of paddy arrived during the corresponding period last year.
While stating this today, Haryana Food and Supplies Minister, Mr Mahender Partap Singh said that of the total arrival, over 26.84 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had been purchased by the six procuring agencies and rest by the millers.
The Minister said that district Kurukshetra was leading in paddy arrival where over 6.52 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had so far arrived in the mandis followed by district Karnal where over 6.20 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had arrived in the mandis. District Fatehabad ranked third in paddy arrival where over 4.17 lakh metric tonnes of paddy arrived in the mandis, whereas district Ambala with over 4.07 lakh metric tonnes of paddy arrival stood at fourth place. Over 3.75 lakh metric tonnes of paddy arrived in district Kaithal, 2.53 lakh metric tonnes in Yamunanagar, over 1.11 lakh metric tonnes in Jind, 61,562 metric tonnes in Palwal, 59,300 metric tonnes in Panchkula and 51,626 metric tonnes in Panipat.
Giving details of the paddy purchased, Mr Mahender Partap Singh said that over 9.58 lakh metric tonnes of paddy had been purchased by Food and Supplies Department and over 9.49 lakh metric tonnes by HAFED. Agro Industries Corporation had purchased over 3.52 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, CONFED 2.21 lakh metric tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation over 2.01 lakh metric tonnes and Food Corporation of India procured 118 metric tonnes of paddy.
