Chandigarh, August 9 –The 68th anniversary of Quit India Movement was observed in Haryana as functions were held at several places to pay homage to the martyrs and freedom fighters.
Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda today called upon the people, especially the youth to carry forward the vision of our freedom fighters and uphold the values for which they laid down their lives.
While paying rich tributes to the freedom fighters, he stressed the need to rekindle the spirit of national integration in the present generation.
Mr Hooda said that Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi had advocated to opt the principles of non-violence, truth, love, communal harmony, patience and mutual understanding. Our visionary leaders and martyrs like Dr Rajindera Parsad, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Subhash Chander Bose, Dr B.R. Ambedkar, Maulana Azad had a vision of nation building. The day of August 9 was dedicated to all those great leaders who had made supreme sacrifices to protect the unity and integrity of the country.
